SUNDAY

Sunday morning, we crossed town from the hovel to the Jewish Museum to catch the Kafka in Prague exhibit before it closed. It was a brilliant exploration of the mind of a really, really neurotic man, trapped in what he perceived as a smothering, cloying city. There was no art, per se, but rather photos, letters, old movies, passageways. It captured a mood, a sense, a decaying soul. I felt proud to be the father of a son who works in this center of culture, intellect, history and art.

We returned to the Steuer-Ingall apartment and noticed that Jonathan's name was on the bulletin board as Condo President. How well our children have married--one to the president of his condo association, and one to the gabbai of his shul! Such naches!

I went over to Russ and Daughters, where Josie is now a celebrity, thanks to Marjorie's column in the Forward, which features Josie in a photo with a pickle in her mouth, as the "official spokesperson for Russ & Daughters." I got the world's best nova, whitefish salad, pickled lox, scallion cream cheese, and some free pickles for Josie. While there, I ran into a family that I treat in Providence, also in the food business, and we exchanged recommendations for smoked fish, deli, and pizza.

We sat down to lunch, and entertainment by Josie.

After lunch, Josie tottered over to her Daddy for a story, and we went home, fulfilled and happy.
