JOSIE AND FAMILY

Friday evening, Jonathan & Marjorie came down with Josie. A whole weekend with our granddaughter! What could be better. THe big news is that she learned to crawl this weekend. For a few weeks, she has been lurching forward to grab things and collapsing comically into a heap. Suddenly this weekend, she got it down and started shooting all over the rug. She grabs for your hands to pull herself up and can stand in this way. In two weeks she will discover that you can grab furniture in the same way and she will then be Madame Destructiva. Now, she is just right.

We sat on the lawn for a bit.

Josie & Carol..Josie & Carol

While Marjorie, Jonathan, and Josie slept, Carol and I went to the annual meeting of our condo association. The fireworks and entertainment there far outdid the fireworks outside that were to come later. Carol and I, according to our condo president "Showed our true colors," and now he will not speak to us. Against my better judgment, I volunteered to serve on the board to represent an alternative point-of-view.

Then it was time to eat. Carol had bought two steaks at East Side Marketplace, which now has a kosher butcher on the premises on Thursdays. They were ribsteaks easily two and a half inches thick. I grilled them on the barbecue, along with portabello portabella portobella mushrooms with garlic and thyme. Yum. A delicious salad, as well. Wines were a great Fife Cabernet Sauvignon, the Jordan chardonnay, and the pinot grigio. Henry VIII time.

Just before we sat down to dinner on the west deck, the fireworks went off at Fort Adams, where the National Association of Secretaries of State were having their annual boondoggle meeting, led by our own scandal-mired Secretary of State, Ed "Two Minutes for Slashing" Inman.
