SUNDAY

After all that, what could we do but eat? Supper was perfectly grilled chicken, couscous, orzo, snap peas with black sesame seeds, eight-grain bread, tofu lasagna, portabella mushrooms with yellow tomato slices and arugula. For dessert, cantaloupe and Nancy’s famous caramel chocolate brownies.

Sunday morning, we went to the beach, where the surf was overwhelming. Carol was the only with courage to go in the water. But it’s still one of the world’s great beaches. We rinsed off at the pool and had a wonderful lunch, al fresco, of salmon salad, chicken salad, and leftovers from the preceding feasts.

We lazed away another gorgeous afternoon, and, there be nothing to shoot, people drifted homeward.

We had some light snacks, a short drive to the airport, and we bade farewell to the Hirschtritts, to Quogue, and a beautiful weekend.
